ABSTRACT - Photovoltaic (PV) involves the conversion of solar energy to electricity. However, the performance of a PV module depends significantly on its operating temperature due to the solar radiation that is not converted into electricity; thus, causing heat generated in the PV system. In order to preserve PV efficiency, the running PV temperature can be controlled by applying a range of water-cooling methods. The main objective of this research is to study the performance of PV using water filter as a cooling method to eliminate the unconverted wavelengths, such as UV and Infrared. The performance of unfiltered PV and 10mm filtered PV using a water filter were compared, and the results show that the PV module with a water filter achieved a higher efficiency of 10.24% than the unfiltered PV module, which had an efficiency of 8.82%.

ABSTRACT - Assessment is one of the most important components in teaching and learning. It serves as a common tool to judge the students’ level of understanding towards subject matter. Nevertheless, in the 21st century, most of the assessments implemented in the school or in tertiary education are still conventional paper-based examinations. Therefore, there is a practical need for the educators to instil creativity and innovation in designing an assessment. Realizing this issue, the present work aims to implement innovative assessment-based assignments in two logistics courses. In the course named ‘Issues in Logistics Industry’, students are required to participate in an innovative challenge whereby they need to innovate a variety of devices that would be useful in the field of logistics. In another course named ‘Material Management’, students are required to participate in a waste recycling activity for fundraising purposes. Both assignments were given marks by panels of lecturers and industrial partners based on a properly designed rubric. Result analysis showed that the students’ grades in both courses have greatly improved in comparison to the previous year in which conventional assessment method was used. Worthy to highlight that students have enjoyed the process and both students and panels of examiners have provided very positive feedback about this new approach of assessment. Such encouraging outcomes suggest that the proposed new assessment is feasible to promote learning excitement in the students.

Didi the Explorer: Educational Mobile Game to Foster Teaching and Learning Arabic Number for Non-Native Speaker
Juniza binti Zamri & Dr Tengku Putri Norishah Tengku Shariman
Multimedia University, Cyberjaya
Junizaa.zamri@gmail.com
ABSTRACT - Having realised that many young children, in particular non-native speakers, are struggling with memorizing Arabic numbers, there is a huge potential for the creation of a mobile app that could attract children to enjoy learning Arabic Numbers. However, only a few apps that cater to the need of teaching Arabic numbers to non-native speakers are created. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop an educational mobile game that fosters the teaching and learning of the Arabic numbers in an attractive manner to non-native speakers in schools. Didi the Explorer is a mobile educational application created for children to learn numbers in Arabic. Emphasis is placed on pronunciation and recognizing Arabic numerals, which is a common obstacle for non-native learners due to the lack of similarity between the phonemes in many of the world's languages with the phonemes that exist in the Arabic language. Additionally, the importance of learning Arabic weighs significantly in religious studies seeing that the Holy Quran is written in Arabic. The challenges in recognising and pronouncing Arabic words can be addressed by using an educational app that engages students effectively with an attractive and interactive content. Adapting this application for usage in schools and at home can potentially instill a greater interest in exploring the Arabic language in-depth. The product was developed based on the ADDIE model whereby the scope of the project involves Analysis, Design, and Development of the prototype. However, the Implementation and Evaluation phases are not included in this research at this moment. According to Mayer’s cognitive theory of multimedia learning, students learn better via multiple channels when processing information in the forms of text, images, audio and video, which must adhere to certain design and organizational principles. As such, the development of the mobile app emphasises the use of multimedia elements to enhance the teaching and learning processes in an interactive, fun, and effective way.

ABSTRACT - Retrenchment is a form of dismissal done by the employer when the role of the employees becomes redundant. In contrast, redundancy occurs when the position of the employee is no longer required. The law gives liberty and flexibility for the company to manage its organization to maximize profits as long as it is done in accordance with the law. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the economy throughout the world, and Malaysia is no exception. Due to this pandemic, Malaysia has faced economic turbulence whereby many companies have suffered losses, revenues are negatively affected, and business is crippled. To minimize the pandemic's impact, many companies decided to restructure and thus redundancy of position arises, and retrenchment has been carried out. This paper provides legal insight into the labour regulations, statutory provisions, and current court standing on this matter. Although the law recognizes the practice of retrenchment and dismissal due to redundancy as part of management prerogative right, strict observation and adherence to the Bona Fide rule, Last In First Out (LIFO) principle, and existing statutory provisions is a must in avoiding legal litigation and unfair labour practice.
Key Words: retrenchment, closure of business, dismissal, unfair labour practice.

ABSTRACT - Heterotrigona itama or Asian stingless bees were commonly found in South East Asia especially in Malaysia. New study had found kelulut to be vital to the preservation and sustainability of the ecosystem as it provides natural pollination, potential food production, high-income growth, pharmaceutical products and research opportunities. This shows that the kelulut is the next thing for humans to depend on in order to sustain mankind on Earth due to its benefits. However, these unpopular stingless bees were not widely known to the world by scientists and kelulut breeders because of its less exposure. In fact, there are scarce in data found which kelulut have been written either physical or online books to expand the knowledge greatness of kelulut. An E-book is an electronic book that enables books to be written in digital form, comprising of text, pictures, or both, accessible on flat computer panels or other electronic devices. It’s also allowed the book to be presented in colourful and more interacting ways for the user to discover. However, as they built pace with the plots and turns of the tale, the readers of conventional books enjoyed the book better. In the context of reading intent, reading conditions, and contextual factors such as age, gender, education level, race/ethnicity, earnings, type of community, and internet access, the survey was conducted with 32 respondents which investigated on the preference for E-books and printed books. Both printed editions and e-books have distinctive characteristics and serve irreplaceable roles in fulfilling the reading needs of people, which may differ according to individual variables such as demographic, contextual and situational. Even though there is a number or research papers and journals available discussing on kelulut, it seems unsuitable for the general audience due to its plain layout and delivery. Thus, the aim and objective of the present study is to generate an E-Book which covers all informations about the kelulut. It also comes with barcode which would ease readers to access the contents. The E-book will cover all of kelulut’s characteristic, behaviour, life cycle, and the proper guidelines to breed them by chapters. The content was being finalized and tested by kelulut experts which was obtained from scientific sources and expert breeders. ABSTRACT - The number of public transportation users in Indonesia, especially trains, has increased by 20.5% for the past 2 years. This is in line with users’ satisfaction and timeliness of departure which reaches 99%. However, the available facilities are not in accordance with the ergonomic value being offered. Train passengers often feel stiff and pain in their neck, which is known as tension neck syndrome. In addition, their long trips are used by passengers as an opportunity to rest, this could lead them to miss their stop due to resting too soundly, which is definitely detrimental in terms of time, cost, and energy to return to their original destination. Therefore, there is a need for a smart neck pillow that utilizes thermal therapy, added with sound and vibration-based alarms. Thermal therapy is known to increase blood flow that carries oxygen and nutrients which will reduce pain. This therapy also increases nerve conduction to reduce muscle spasm. The alarm feature can be calibrated in real-time using a smartphone. Thus, this smart neck pillow with thermal therapy and alarm features is expected to increase the comfort and attractiveness of the public in using public transportation.

ABSTRACT - Certain programs offered in Institutional Higher Learning (IHL) offer courses that include lecture in class and laboratory activities. During the laboratory activities, students are required to work in groups of maximum four members and perform the laboratory activities following the correct procedures by referring to the laboratory manual given by the lecturer at the beginning of the class. Students are expected to write a laboratory report after completing the procedures that include analysis and interpretation of data, discussion of result and conclusion. The typical practice of producing the laboratory report is that students have to type and print the report for submission. Sometimes the process takes longer period due to time constraints. Therefore, I-LAB is introduced to simplify the process of report writing. I-LAB is a computer programme developed using Microsoft Excel where students can refer the laboratory manual and write their laboratory report using this programme. Additionally, the objectives of this programme are to reduce the time taken to finish the report and also reduce paper usage The programme is expected to ease both parties; students’ and lecturers’ works. On students part, the report writing and submission, and on the lecturers part, the observation and checking on the student’s works.

ABSTRACT - A common brick in construction industry use in construction is sand brick. Cement brick or sand brick made from sand mixed with cement. Usage demand of sand cement brick resulted to the increase of demand for sand. As a concern to environmental issues especially on the shortage of natural sand and plastic issues. Therefore a study on exploring replacement material to natural sand is required. Plastic bags are made from crude oil, which is made into a hard or a soft material. In this short time, their extreme convenience has made them widespread all aspects of life, making them the synonym of waste. However, their decomposition is a very long process. In this study the plastics used as sand replacement material to produce sand cement brick grade 5 N/mm2 and 10 N/mm2 called Hybrid Environmental Brick (HEB) The effect of plastic to compressive strength and density of brick containing plastic compared containing river sand was identified and discuss in this paper. HEB is a new type and concept of brick. HEB is casted in three layers with two different strength grades and different materials. The HEB developed through this concept produced different properties of brick as compared to normal sand cement brick. All the important properties of HEB were identified and presented in this study. Then the resulting analysis of this comparison determined the optimum mix for HEB. The finding showed that the optimum mix for this study was acceptable brick by the characteristics study. From results obtained is found that plastic is highly potential to be use as sand replacement material in a production of sand cement brick. Even though, compressive strength of sand cement containing plastic is lower but the properties are still satisfied to use in industry. Finally it can be conclude that the HEB can be produced as new type of brick in construction industry as it reduce the application of sand and cement in order to produce a good quality bricks with followed requirements.

ABSTRACT - The brain drains phenomena occur when highly trained, qualified, and skilled workers migrate to other countries for better job opportunities and quality of life. The immigration of these highly skilled workers has significantly benefited the host countries with economic progress while leaving the home country with loss of human capital. The loss of a tremendous number of highly skilled workers might harm the ability of the home country to progressively develop the nation as most of them are coming from crucial fields. Acknowledging this, Malaysia’s government has introduced various incentives and schemes to encourage skilled workers to return and contribute towards home country development. The objective of this paper is to report a literature review identifying factors of brain drain in Malaysia and pinpoint on the government's efforts in overcoming the issue of brain drain in Malaysia.

ABSTRACT - Budget deficit especially during an economic crisis increases the demand for public finance or debt internally and externally to support government expenditure. Public debt and government expenditure are regarded as an engine that promotes economic activities and hence increases economic growth. However, is the case true for a developing country particularly Malaysia? What is the empirical causaleffect between these variables on economic growth? The past studies seem to have a mix of findings on the impact of public debt on economic growth. This makes a hard dilemma for policy decision making. Therefore, the objective of the study is to examine the long-run relationship between public debt, government expenditure and economic growth for Malaysia from the year 1980 to 2018. A time-series Vector Autoregressive (VAR) co-integration, Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and causality tests are used in the analysis. The findings indicate that there is a significant long-run relationship between public debt and growth positively. Unidirectional causality is found between public debt-economic growth, government expenditure-economic growth and government expenditure-public debt.
